Last week, we looked at three of the seven sayings of Jesus on the cross. We will now examine the other four.

By grace, Jesus died “for all” (2 Corinthians 5:14), tasted death “for everyone” (Hebrews 2:9), and is the propitiation “for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2). This means that all can benefit from what God has done through Christ. No one is beyond reach.

Few songs are more recognizable to Christians than “Amazing Grace.” It is a fixture in many worship services and funerals. But what exactly is grace, and why is it so amazing?

The Lord promised to build his church. He declared, “On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). “Church” is from the Greek word ekklesia and means “assembly.”

Prayer is a special privilege for Christians. It gives us an open line of communication with God and ought to be taken advantage of regularly.

“Must I get baptized to be saved?” Though there are plenty of passages that teach baptism has a role in salvation, many deny this truth because “baptism is a work and we are not saved by works.” Therefore, I would like to consider that argument scripturally.

In the early 1800s, some Methodist missionaries went into northeast Alabama to evangelize Indian clans. They came upon some English-speaking Indians and gave them a Bible to read, promising to return the next year.

When mankind fell into sin and was in danger of eternal death, Jesus the Lamb knew just what to do. He left the comfortable confines of heaven and wrapped Himself in the womb of a woman. Nine months later he emerged as an infant in the tiny town of Bethlehem (Lk. 2:4-7).

The Bible claims to be of divine origin. It says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16). The phrase “breathed out by God” (theopneustos) means that it is the product of His creative breath.

While there are many ways to prove that the Bible is inspired, prophecy may be the best way to do so. Even critics must admit that these words were uttered long before the events took place. The question is, “What will you do with such undeniable evidence?”

There is no need to create fanciful traditions that contradict scripture to honor Mary. We all believe that she was a virgin when she conceived Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

Do you have a “void” inside that can’t seem to be filled? Most of us do. Yet sadly, the more we try to fill that void the emptier it becomes.

One does not have to be raised in the Roman Catholic Church (as I was) to know that it puts a great deal of emphasis on Mary. She is called "Mother of God," "Queen of Heaven," "Refuge of Sinners," and more.

It is important that we know “what” we believe and “why” we believe it. Yet sadly, many Christians could not give a detailed explanation from scripture about their beliefs.

Paul said that the miraculous gifts would cease when “the perfect comes” (1 Corinthians 13:10, ESV).

On June 30, 2010, an article entitled "Yes, abortion is killing. But it's the lesser evil" appeared in The Times [London]. It was written by Antonia Senior, a devoted feminist. Her perspective on the abortion issue is very telling.

"Kintsugi" is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics using lacquer mixed with gold, silver, or platinum. It sees breakage as something to be highlighted rather than hidden, and the result often increases the object's value.

There is a very popular teaching that says salvation comes through prayer. Commonly called the "Sinner's Prayer," the idea is that one can become a Christian by simply uttering a short prayer admitting they are a sinner and asking Jesus into their heart.
