All About Kids
The Village church of Christ has been assisting identified children with weekend food through a partnering program with 3 local school districts since 2010. These school districts are Fountain Lake, Jessieville, and Mountain Pine. We believe it is important for these identified kids to receive weekend food. Although the Village church of Christ is funding this ministry at this time, we are looking for other interested local churches to help in funding it. There are many opportunities for involvement in this ministry. In the past, about 50 different people within our church body have helped in unloading food, packing weekly bags and delivering the food. Men's Faith-Based Addiction Treatment
SOZO believes that spiritual growth and healing renewal are absolute essentials to long term recovery.
Spirituality and faith, through their associations with cognitive processes, create more positive health outcomes, including optimistic life orientation, higher resilience to stress, lower levels of anxiety, and positive coping skills. We believe that the environment and atmosphere in the recovery setting is of paramount importance.
Personalized counseling takes place every day at SOZO along with time for reflection, meditation of God’s word and prayer. SOZO provides faith based and 12 step substance abuse services in a home-like setting that is safe, and conducive to spiritual growth. The staff is a living example of a way of life that can sustain long term sobriety and recovery.
“One resident at a time, one family at a time, one day at a time”, is SOZO’s motto. Individualized care and loving attention to the specific needs of each resident is the essence of the program. Focusing of principles found in the Bible and 12 step fellowships produces fast and long-lasting results.
Jackson House
In 195, Reverend Harry Woodall had an aspiration of creating a place where those in crisis could find comfort, support, and hope. Guided by his vision, he established a crisis intervention center offering short-term emergency assistance to those in greatest need.
Honoring the spirit of service, he named it the Eleanor Klugh Jackson House, in memory of a dedicated local volunteer who deeply touched the community. Today, more than 50 years later, Jackson House continues to embody Reverend Woodall’s legacy, providing compassionate care and support to those who need it most.
Love Bears
Many of our women—along with an occasional husband—gather to make fleece bears for children in need. Our first delivery was in April 2012, when we brought 30 bears to St. Joseph Hospital and placed six more in a basket for visitors in our building. From there, the work quickly grew. As of July 2015, we have been delivering 155 bears each month to two hospitals: CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs and Saline County Hospital in Benton. These bears have traveled far and wide, even reaching children in Africa.
Each year, the Breakfast with Santa program receives 75 to 100 bears, and the basket in our foyer remains filled for young visitors. Through this ministry, more than 5,252 bears have been shared with children. Every bear is crafted with love and lifted in prayer by Christian sisters devoted to serving God.
We always welcome more helping hands. Anyone is invited to join us. While much of the work is done individually at home, we also meet at the church building on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month to work together.
Sewing for Angels
In partnership with a group in Little Rock (www.holysews.org), we create and distribute handmade layettes for stillborn babies. These layettes are provided at no cost to hospitals and families, and they are sent throughout Arkansas, the Dallas–Fort Worth area, and even into Canada.
Our ministry has been featured in the Village Voice, the Democrat-Gazette, the Catholic quarterly, the national Catholic website, and the Methodist quarterly. The work we do is supported entirely by our church family, our dedicated volunteers, and generous donations.
We are always grateful for additional hands—whether for cutting, marking, pinning, sewing, or other tasks. Donations of fabric, lace, ribbon, baby yarn, time, or financial support are also deeply appreciated.
Our group meets every Monday from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Village Church of Christ, and visitors are always welcome. If you feel called to be part of this ministry, please contact the church office.
Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa is a ministry that reaches out to the communities in and around the Village in a special way. School counselors at Fountain Lake, Jessieville and Mountain Pine are contacted to find out if they have children with needs during the Christmas season. The families are given a form to fill out giving us information on the children and their Christmas wishes. We place those forms on an Angel tree to be selected by our church families. Gifts are bought, wrapped and then on a special Saturday morning the community families bring their children to our Family Life Center to a full breakfast, Bible story, a host of holiday activities, singing and the opportunity to see Santa himself. The morning ends with each family receiving their bags of gifts along with information about our Bible classes and worship times. Many of our church members look forward to volunteering for this special annual event.
PreBorn! is a dedicated non-profit, pro-life organization that supports life-affirming Pregnancy Clinics in their mission to reach women considering abortion, particularly in areas with high abortion rates.
This is achieved through digital marketing strategies that are designed to connect with these women, offering them free ultrasounds and support, as well as providing Pregnancy Clinics with vital grants for state-of-the-art ultrasound machines, evangelism training, and additional resources.
All services provided to expectant mothers within the PreBorn! Pregnancy Network are offered at no cost, emphasizing our commitment to life.
